Our Mission

Tarpan Press strives to publish forgotten and lost novels, novellas, and nonfiction historical accounts originally published prior to 1900. Our current focus is nineteenth-century erotica and medieval historical accounts that have never been translated into English, or whose translations have long been out of print.

Tarpan Press is an independent publisher with a focus on historical translations of decadent novels, historical documents, and historical fantasy.

It publishes under three imprints: Red Lantern Books, Sword & Cloister Books, and Adaris Books.

Who We Are

Managing Editor

James got his start in publishing in Boston. He worked in ebook development, followed by marketing and sales for a major academic publisher. He then became the marketing and sales manager for a nonprofit legal publisher. His passion lies in historical texts, but if pressed, he also enjoys a good fantasy, science fiction, or detective novel.
